Optimization of manual activities: Imaf

Imaf has adopted Digimark’s Portant 4.0 to monitor job processing times via tablet.

Keep track of the processing time for each job order

Portant 4.0 software as the best solution for keeping track of production data.

Growth in size, enterprise development, and increasing customers lead companies to have to revise production policies, projecting toward optimizing manual activities.

These assumptions mean that the company must ensure at the same time, both the completion of the commissioned work within a set deadline and ensure a high quality standard. In addition, it is necessary to have planning and scheduling of employee work, to facilitate the achievement of goals.

IMAF, based in Castelfidardo (AN), has been producing aluminum window frames for civil, industrial, artisan and commercial buildings since 1976. It relied on Digimark for production planning, time organization and optimization of manual activities.

The need

Imaf needed to keep track of the processing time of each job order, i.e., each stage of creation of the fixture. This, to always have available a record of the total time spent on the project to be forwarded to the customer, broken down by task and employee.

The solution for optimizing manual tasks

Digimark has identified its Portant 4.0 software as the best solution to meet Imaf’s needs. Portant 4.0, in fact, enables tracking of production data. Through further integration with a web app that can be viewed from tablets, it gives employees the ability to quickly and easily consult development time information.

In this way, on the production side, operators can check the progress stage of the assigned job order so that they can better organize their activities. Equally for the administration side, it is the clerk who accurately verifies the hours worked by the individual operator, both for the individual job order and overall, for salary calculation.

Features

One of the peculiarities of the software made by Digimark, is that they can be integrated naturally and automatically with the management software already in the company.

Specifically, the Kronos software designed for Imaf works on two levels:

  • Administration side, which takes care of project management. Automatically, development phases are created, which are necessary for the realization of the job;
  • production side, where the operator views the project and the various tasks to be performed on a tablet.
Optimization of manual activities pin employee
The employee, using personal credentials and a 4-digit pin code, can independently enter the web app, where he or she can select the project to work on.
Optimization of manual activities project list
One can see all the stages of progress of the job order, from its generation to its archiving once it is finished.
Optimization of manual tasks to be performed
The operator can select the individual task and start it via “start” button. Once started, tracking of time spent starts, which stops when the “stop” button is selected, then task concluded.

Benefits obtained

  • Timely tracking and processing times in their internal management system;
  • Ability to export reports to Excel format for later processing;
  • productivity statistics for each employee;
  • time optimization by red-flagging any breaks longer than 15 minutes, to understand their causes with a view to improvement;
  • comparison between estimated job completion time and actual time taken, so that timely action can be taken to ensure that job delivery deadlines are met.

This is one of the many uses of Portant 4.0 by Digimark software, implemented by Imaf for the organization and management of manual labor. It is adaptable and extendable to production departments of any size and with a wide variety of production technologies.
